Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to begin their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per the DM, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group understands precisely where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—used the enemy for his own means, invading the secret base, striking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then paid off his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the party reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
